Education and Training Opportunities

The New Jersey Museum of Transportation is an education organization, and as such we encourage other educational and training organizations to make use of our staff and grounds.

In addition to hosting emergency medial team training, we work with a number of service animal training organizations. We provide unique training opportunities for service animals that trainers have found especially beneficial. And, we're pleased to offer our services entirely free of charge.

If you are part of such an organization, please contact Idella LuBrant at ilubrant@njmt.org, or call the office on the weekends to learn more about what we have to offer.

Groups are Welcome!

Special accommodations are made for school groups, tours, day camps, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, weddings or any other special occasions.

As a vital part of its ongoing commitment to education, the New Jersey Museum of Transportation welcomes hundreds of children every year from day care centers, day camps, and public and private schools.

Before riding our historic rolling stock, young passengers are briefed on railroad safety by a qualified conductor-docent, who will accompany them on their ride to answer questions and point out items of interest along the right-of-way. Time permitting, the visit may include a tour of the shop and car barn. An education packet for teachers and counselors provides a brief history of the museum and partial roster of its equipment, an annotated timeline of railroad history, and suggestions for follow-up activities.

To schedule a group event on a weekday, contact Allaire Village at 732-919-3500. To schedule a group event on a weekend, contact Idella LuBrant at ilubrant@njmt.org.
